The Legal and Ethical Responsibilities of Culture Awareness and Sensitivity within a Diverse Workforce

Cultural norms have been undergoing significant changes prompted by justice reform and emerging societal movements.  In response, local, State and Federal laws and legislation are being developed to protect the interests of our diverse population by recognizing varying and unique cultures, beliefs, values, and practices.

For law firms, court systems, legislators, regulators, agencies and businesses to be successful and responsive to community expectations, increased knowledge and awareness of the differences among cultures is paramount. This relational construct will lead to better communication and interactions, and an inclusive work environment designed for better business operations and support of a diverse workforce and customer base.

This 6 hour interactive class will explore a significant number of issues and behaviors related to various cultural norms including styles of communication, harmful non-verbal body cues typically called “micro-aggressions”,  common sources of cultural conflict, the importance of understanding worldview and the legal implications involved.
